Expertly smoked meats with fresh sides and desserts prepared daily. Nothing canned, no crazy preservatives. We believe using real food without fake ingredients and fillers makes all the difference.
In 1989, Hollis and Betty Dean grew their small catering business into a steakhouse/ BBQ restaurant located on their family farm in Wingate, TX. The Shed thrived in the small town, providing jobs for their family as well as the surrounding area. Byron, their oldest grandson, worked his way up the ranks at The Shed- starting as a dishwasher and eventually becoming the manager. In 1997, Byron’s then girlfriend, now wife Stacie joined the team as a waitress/ hostess. Two years later Byron and Stacie tied the knot and continued to work at The Shed until they moved to Abilene in 2002.
Hollis and Betty decided to retire from The Shed in Wingate a few years later. Starting in 2005, Byron and Stacie continued the catering legacy in Abilene while maintaining their full-time jobs, Byron had a dirt work business and Stacie was an RN. As the Abilene catering business grew, juggling their main jobs and catering proved to be very difficult so they needed to make a hard decision. Were they going to let the family business go or take a massive leap of faith to see if they could re-establish their own version of The Shed in Abilene?
In 2018 Byron and Stacie opened The Shed Market; serving their premium BBQ lunch service, supplying the highest quality meat in their raw meat market, and maintaining an excellent catering service. The local community quickly rallied around the new business, helping it thrive and grow. Despite the odds against them, they survived COVID-19 and catapulted into the future with unforeseen momentum.
Stacie and Byron give Jesus Christ all the glory and honor. They fully believe that without their surrender to and faith in Jesus, they would not have seen such overflowing blessings in their family, community, and business. The Lord forever changed their lives in October of 2016- ask them about it sometime, they would be happy to tell you all about it. Stacie and Byron’s goal is to take all the Love they have received from and through The Lord and return it to every person they are honored to serve inside and outside the restaurant.
